Bill and I got married in July of 2010 and so much has happened in our lives since then. Here is an update on where we are.
Last May Bill got a job with Athens ISD as a teacher and coach at the middle school. This was such an amazing blessing to get a job after only interviewing with two districts. So we began looking for a place to live in Athens. Having never been to Athens much less looked at houses I wasn't sure what we were in for. After a few months of searching we found our house! Bill actually completed the process of getting the house without me ever having seen the house in person! Scary I know, but I trusted him! It is perfect for us and is a great fit with plenty of room for family and friends to come visit! We closed on our house in December and it feels so weird to say we are homeowners. A funny story about being young homeowners, a door-to-door salesman came by last week and when I answered the door he asked to speak to my mom or dad! :) At least I am still "youthful" looking!
In July in the midst of house hunting and relocating Bill and I got married! A huge thank you to all of our family and friends who made that day possible and the best day of our life...for the time being. :)
Fall 2010 brought many changes for us. We were getting used to being married and also getting used to a semi-long distance relationship. I still had one semester of college left before graduation so I lived with my parents during the week and every friday headed out to Athens to see Bill. Bill was keeping busy with football during the fall and well in to winter due to the success of the Athens Hornets last season. He loves coaching and I love watching him coach! I am looking forward to the coming fall when I will be able to go to the games without having to drive in from Bryan every weekend. Another huge change for us was the upcoming birth of our sweet baby! We found out on Aug. 31st that we were going to be having a baby girl. I have to admit, and sorry for those who have not been as lucky, pregnancy was a breeze for me. Knock on wood I know, the next one (if there is a next one) with be brutal! So through doctors appointments and traveling up and down the road the fall seemed to go so slowly! Also on an exciting note, this fall I said goodbye to the Mustang. I upgraded to a more "family friendly" what I call small SUV. (I know its a crossover though.) December brought many exciting events for us. Both Bill and I had birthdays and I graduated from Texas A&M University on Dec. 17th! We then celebrated Christmas with both of our families. The holidays were such a great time but it was so good to be back in Athens together finally.
Happy New Year! The new year also meant we were that much closer to meeting Emma! I was due Jan. 26th but since we were living in Athens and my doctor was in Bryan we had scheduled to be induced Jan. 20th which also was my dad's birthday which I was very excited about! I was living with Bill in Athens until Jan. 11th. At that point we decided it was best for me to stay with my parents just in case she decided to come early. The next weekend we had a false alarm and Bill rushed to Bryan only to get a sleepless night, no baby. But it did get him out of the basketball tournament that weekend. So the next week was the upcoming big day. Bill went to school on monday and tuesday that week and headed to Bryan after school tuesday the 18th just to be there with me until the 20th. It was all in God's plan because About 30 min. after Bill getting to my parents' on the 18th we were headed to the hospital. This time, the real thing. We were admitted to the hospital about 6:30 pm on the 18th and at 5:16 am on the 19th we welcomed Emma Elizabeth to the world! It was by far the best day of our lives! :) Emma was a healthy 7 pounds 1.6 ounces and 20.25 inches! We had the waiting room filled with family and friends and we were so glad everyone could be there to share this with us! Even though she was a day early, I think my Dad didn't mind having an early birthday present! We headed home from the hospital on the 20th and after a week with my mother followed by a week with my mother-in-law we were finally starting to settle into a routine. I loved having the help and those two weeks with them were a very special time for me and for them.
So here we are 7 weeks 1 day later, life is going great. Emma is healthy and doing so good! She is such a good baby and I love dressing her up with her big bows and all her pretty clothes. Everyone keep an eye on your mailbox, birth announcements will be coming soon! Bill is in the middle of track season and looking forward to the end of April when he will have a slight break in sports for a little while. I am filling my days browsing the internet, looking for jobs for the fall, being a wife and being a mom. I love every second of it and would not have life any other way. God has blessed us with the most precious gift and the most wonderful friends and family we could ask for. Posts from now on won't be this long but I just wanted to update everyone on where were are in our life right now! I won't make any promises on how often I will post but I will try to keep everyone up to date with happenings in our life.
P.S.- Bill is going to make so much fun of me when he finds out I made a blog! :) Oh well....
